Element Severne Powerful Freeride Windsurfing Sail 2009

Since the first Severne 2 cam sails became widely available in 2003, Amara has been winning local races on them. They are fast, light and powerful, easy to use and give great performance without the hassle and expence of having a more race orientated sail.

At our school, Blue Lagoon, Pattaya, Thailand we are using sails mostly between 6.5 and 8.5. The 8.5 Element being our most popular light wind sail. The 6.5 Gator our most popular high wind sail. With Hellcats, NCX's, Glides and Overdrives also in the mix.

TEST RESULT - Windsport France, March 2009 - 6.5M Element

For 2009 Severne developed the element 6.5 with great
finishing
and maintaining the nice look of simple monofilm,
instead of using X-ply to reinforce the leach. All the modern
features are here, there is even a bonus in all the Severne
sails, the battens tensioner key is also a bottle opener.
Please note that there is a molded protector just under
the boom cut out to reduce the impact on the board.  The
element has a longer luff than last year.  It demonstrates
during the first test that it is light in your hands and very
maneuverable
. Like last year we appreciate the large view
that you have through the sail. The profile of this Severne
is deeper and further forward compared to the other sails
from the same group. The rider feels the forward propul-
sion and still has power in the back hand. Despite this
power, you need to be a bit more active than the Gaastra
to get planing in the lighter winds. But after this you feel
the frontal power and it never ceases.  The propulsion in
the low wind range is very good
. When the wind picks up,
we still feel the front propulsion which gives you excellent
performance. The back hand is still good and with this pro-
file and the sail has a very interesting stability. No negative
points in the wind range
. If you compare this to the other
sails which are flatter in the front, it’s not as easy to con-
trol the power when you open the sail in gust. Finally, this
is an excellent free ride sail that Severne has developed
this year which combines lightness, power and speed. Ap-
preciated by all the testers.

TEST RESULT - PLANCHE MAG  FRANCE, March 2009 - 6.5M Element

The 18 Carat Free Ride Sail
Very soft and light in your hands, it allows an easy ride with
its comfort and facilities. Quick, soft, progressive planning,
very good for riders who need more power. The sail gives
the impression of riding on cotton. Finally it has absolute
comfort
, the more choppy and gusty the better this sail
becomes.
Arnaud:  In 2 seconds we felt that the sail was the most
relaxed and light in your hands during water starting, beach
starting and also during sailing and jibing. It is very comfort-
able in cruising in choppy conditions and in the transitions.
