IDO Windsurfing

Hats off to Italian Inventor and Family Man Dario Oliviero, who in a joint project wth that other great inovator of Watersports Equipment, Starboard have changed Windsurfing Forever.
The cleverly engineered IDO system suports the sail so that children and new windsurfers no longer have to bend over and pick it out of the water when they are learning. This takes the hard work out fo learning and saves energy for high quallity practice. It also allows children to start younger as strength is no longer a pre-requirement of their Windsurfing Watersports Education.
The IDO will be available with 3.0M Beginner Rig Packages that come with Starboard Start and Rio Boards for Schools and Resorts in Thailand through our normal Dealer Channals.
How can the IDO help you?
For the first hour of training when used together with a Large Starboard Start Board and a 3.0M School Sail - the IDO unit allows the student to immediately experience forward motion, and begin learning about how to use the sail to steer and control speed.
At Blue Lagoon Watersports Club in Pattaya just 2 hours from Bangkok Thailand, we have been testing IDO units since early 2009. We have found that they are most useful for small ladies and young children who do not have so much strength for repetitely lifting the sail from the water.
During the first hour, beginners may have to do this more than 20 times. This leaves them too tired to concentrate on good technique. Bigger people, (85kg and up) although often stronger, tend to sink the board more and fall more often, so can also get very tired in this first windsurfing lesson also.
The IDO unit, removes the need to reach down and pick up the sail. Thus saving a lot energy in this first critical hour of windsurf instruction. Beginner Windsurfers are far more likely to continue with their windsurfing instruction and training if they feel they had fun and made some good progress.
Amara Watersports at Blue Lagoon Pattaya Thailand Asia are using IDO units in our Starboard TIKI School. You are very welcome to come and visit us if you are nearby. We have found the units work best with 3.0M Sails. In stronger wind we use a surfing leash attached from the board to the student so that the board does not sail away and leave the student behind. With the 3.0M sail on the Starboard Startboard there is no danger of the student getting dragged along in the wind strength we teach our windsurfing classes in.
Totally recommended for Families, Resorts and Schools or anybody who enjoys teaching windsurfing.
